Moments of Completion, Honouring the Journey of the TQSpirit & Practice

Honouring the Journey
In Tai Chi and Qigong, we sometimes speak of “The Way.”
It’s not a religion or a destination, but a way of moving through life—with breath, with awareness, and with steady presence. As we train ourselves in these arts—step by step, week by week—we begin to notice subtle shifts. We learn to listen more deeply to our bodies, soften into challenges, and move with intention.

The path—The Way—isn’t a straight line. It’s not about perfect attendance, or always feeling strong, or mastering something once and for all. Instead, it’s about showing up again. And again. Even after time away. Even when it’s hard. Even when your energy is low, or your balance is off, or your memory falters.

Returning to the breath.
Returning to the movement.
Returning to yourself.

Each photo below captures a moment of pause—of recognition—along a path that never truly ends. The Tai Chi students pictured here have completed a form: some after 9 to 12 months of steady practice, others in just 3 months. Some were learning their very first sequence; others took on longer and more intricate sets of movement. Many of our Tai Chi students have been training together for over 15–20 years.

Our Qigong students also span a wide range of experience. Some have been practicing together since 2008, while others have just completed their first session of Health Qigong classes. Our age range? From 12 years old to 93!

Regardless of form or pace, each journey reflects commitment, breath, and presence. We honour these milestones not as a finish line, but as a meaningful step forward—with the spirit of practice still unfolding.

Some of our students were not present when these group photos were taken—but we are holding them in our hearts just the same. Your presence in our classes, whether captured in a photo or not, is a vital part of this community.

Also not pictured are our Thursday evening students at the North Shore Neighbourhood House, a place where we’ve proudly trained in since 2002. We will see you again in September!

And to our Live-On-Zoom students—though not in these photos, your presence is felt and appreciated. Since April 2020, we deeply honour the fact that you continue to show up from home (and from across the world), proving that our practice and our spirit can reach far beyond a single room.

Together, in person and online, we are a strong and growing TQSpirit community—each of us walking The Way in our own time, with our own breath, and with shared support.

This photo includes many of the students who completed the 13 Postures Tai Chi form at North Lonsdale United Church during our April–July 2026 session. With approximately 95% of the class new to Tai Chi, this was a meaningful accomplishment — achieved through determination, focus, steady practice, and plenty of fun along the way.

A true celebration of learning, perseverance, and TQSpirit friendship.
