As the day begins to soften into evening, this Tuesday class offers a calm and welcoming place to pause, breathe, and come back to yourself. After the activity of the day, Tai Chi and Qigong help release tension, settle the mind, and restore a feeling of balance from the inside out.
This beginner-friendly evening class is designed for newbies, new students, and returning beginners who would like to learn Tai Chi in a clear, supportive, step-by-step way. Students will be introduced to the 24 Form, one of the most widely practised beginner Yang-style Tai Chi forms in the world today. Its flowing sequence offers an excellent foundation for learning Tai Chi principles such as posture, balance, weight shifting, turning, stepping, relaxation in motion, and mindful coordination.
The 24 Form is long enough to feel meaningful, but short enough to be approachable for newer students. Through steady repetition, students gradually become more familiar with the movements, the transitions, and the quiet rhythm of the form. Over time, this practice can help improve balance, flexibility, concentration, body awareness, and the ability to move with greater softness and ease.
This class will also include Qigong-inspired warm-ups and gentle internal movement practices, including elements inspired by the Five Animals. These practices help prepare the body, calm the nervous system, support the breath, and encourage a smoother flow of energy before and around the Tai Chi learning.
Together, the 24 Form and Qigong create a well-rounded evening practice: part form learning, part Qigong cultivation, and part mindful movement journey. Students will develop greater ease, steadiness, flexibility, and focus while enjoying a practice that is both traditional in spirit and welcoming for modern students.
With the TQSpirit you'll also get the very best of our Qigong and Tai Chi Community.

How our TQSpirit classes flow: Each of our Tai Chi Qigong Fusion classes include Health qigong that also helps to strengthen and stretch the body; Breathing meditations that calm the mind and the spirit, and exercises that help balance your body, mind and spirit.
Each class always starts with a slow, flowing warm-up to calming music (but sometimes upbeat) after which you will follow the instructor in various qigong exercises, stretches and meditations. You’ll get tai chi instruction and you’ll be able to follow along with an easy-to-follow Qigong form.
Long-time students love the variety and depth each season brings, while newcomers often share how approachable the instruction feels—and how quickly they begin to feel more relaxed, grounded, and energized. Classes are taught in a warm, supportive, and welcoming environment. Students often appreciate the seasonal rhythm and the sense of community that develops over time.
Come experience the balance of stillness and motion, and the joy of learning within a caring community as we move together through the energy of spring.
MORE INFORMATION ABOUT QIGONG
Qigong is an ancient Chinese health practice that combines gentle movement, breath, posture, intention, and relaxation. It is often described as meditation in motion.
In this Tai Chi Qigong Fusion class, Qigong helps prepare the body and calm the mind, while Tai Chi practice helps develop balance, flow, coordination, and grounded awareness. The Qigong portion of the class supports the Tai Chi learning by helping students soften tension, deepen the breath, and move with greater ease.
Many students find that Qigong helps them feel more centred, relaxed, and present. Over time, the practice can support better balance, ease of movement, deeper breathing, and a greater sense of inner steadiness.
This class is a gentle way to begin — or continue — your journey with Tai Chi and Qigong. It is not about rushing ahead. It is about learning to move with awareness, one breath and one step at a time.
