MORE ABOUT THIS CLASS – THE FINAL CHAPTER

This sword form will complete in the April to July 2025 session. New classes will begin in September 2025.

THE JOURNEY OF THE TAI CHI SWORD
The Tai Chi Sword is a dance of precision, focus, and fluid energy. To the observer, it is a mesmerizing blend of artistry and strength. For the practitioner, it is a deeply meditative experience—a fusion of mental focus, physical control, and flowing movement.

By now, after more than 7 months of training, current students have already built a strong foundation in sword basics, Tai Chi stepping, and stances. In this final set of 14 classes, we will take that foundation and refine it, working toward a fluid, connected, and confident execution of the full form.

During this Spring-into-Summer session the Sword Group will complete the form. Finishing the form does not mean “the end” of practice. It is just the start.

It is said: “It takes 100 days to learn a barehand form, but 1,000 days to learn the sword, and a lifetime to master it.”

And, as with all traditional martial arts, mastery of any form or weapon is a lifelong journey. The sword, with its additional focus on precision, balance, and understanding of both inner and outer movements, requires years to truly master.

Our Sword Students, will, in due time, celebrate how far they’ve come with their mighty sword in hand, but then will continue to practice their techniques and skills so they can truly embody the flow, elegance, and power of the Tai Chi Sword. Finishing this sword form will be an incredible accomplishment.

The Tai Chi Sword has a long history in Chinese martial arts. To the observer, the tai chi sword can appear exciting and exhilarating. For the performer, once learned and well-practiced, it will feel like a dance that includes mental focus and well-trained, precise movements. It is beautiful and easy to learn, and will help you find tranquility, flow, harmony, balance, focus and concentration.

WHAT YOU’LL EXPERIENCE IN PART 3 – THE FINAL CHAPTER
  • Skill advancement of the Full Sword Form – Learning Part 3 and finishing the entire tai chi sword sequence, after 10+ months of training, is what you’ve been working toward!
  • Enhanced dexterity, balance and point precision. As you grow in experience you’ll enjoy the feeling of becoming one with the sword, as your sword becomes an extension of your own body from the handle through to the tip.
  • You’ll feel the Power of Qi extension –  By the end of this session all this sword practice will have advanced the student’s  skill and abililty to use soft, natural, whole body coordinated movements so that the sword movements will feel like it is dancing around the body. Our Sword Students’ goal, with practice, will be to experience enhanced Qi flow with the sword dance, along with feeling strong, powerful and engaged.
  • Gone are the days when we are practicing the sword for protection, survival, and self-defense. Learning any Tai Chi Sword form, first and foremost, is the joy of completion, but the journey is all about the fun and fitness it provides.
