The Saturday Qigong class, starting in January 2026, will begin while we are in the midst of the stillness of winter. We will start the new season by cultivating the deep, restorative calm of Winter Qigong—nourishing the Kidneys, conserving energy, and strengthening our roots. As the weeks unfold, we evolve into Spring Qigong, gently awakening the Liver energy, stretching open the body, and welcoming movement and light back into our lives.

Qigong has a way of making you feel alive, grounded, and uplifted all at once. The slow, flowing movements calm the mind, ease tension, and rekindle inner warmth. Many leave class feeling lighter, more centred, and quietly energized—like the Earth itself beginning to awaken beneath the snow.

On Saturdays, whether you join Qi-gong-ing In-Person or Live-On-Zoom, the experience can be transformative. In-person practice lets you feel the Qi in the room — and in you. The shared current of vitality that fills our Saturday mornings in-person also includes many who join, Live-On-Zoom. Zoom brings you up close and personal to each detail of what’s being taught, wherever you are in the world.

You can "feel the qi" and Community while Live-On-Zoom. TQSpirit Participants gather from across the North Shore and far beyond—from locations around our beautiful province of British Columbia, or other provinces and countries. Snowbirds and Vacationers zoom into our Qigong classes while they are off travelling to warm lands, mountain cabins, or while on beach-side trips, making our Zoomers a very diverse group of students who want to remain connected to our Qigong communities, where ever they are.

In addition we some some New and Exciting news!... Another In-Person Qigong Class will open up at a different location in January 2026! We wanted our Qigong-ers to be the first to know!

For the first time in many years, since before Covid, you can combine your beloved Saturday morning Qigong with a Tuesday morning Qigong & a Tai Chi Fusion In-Person (only) class at our North Lonsdale United Church location.   • Saturday Qigong Starts: Saturday, January 10th to March 28th. 12 classes. Full-class video options also available as an Add-On.
  • NEW COMBO! Both In-Person Classes. In-Person Qigong Tai Chi Fusion class starts at North Lonsdale United Church on Tuesday, January 6th (9:00am) and the other is the Saturday Qigong, starting on January 10th (10:00am) at Highlands United Church. At Highlands, you have the choice of In-Person or Live-On-Zoom. 24 classes. You can sign up for the COMBO on the Tuesday Qigong-Tai Chi Fusion page. You can also choose to be In-Person on Tuesdays and Live-On-Zoom on Saturdays. 
  • Saturday Qigong Time: Please join us by 9:45am for a pre-warm-up walk around the Gym to up-tempo music. We start Qigong practice at 10:00am-10:55am, sometimes 10:05am-11:00am.

  • Both In-Person and Live-On-Zoom is available. Zoom is available to everyone, even those who sign up for In-Person classes. It is a great option for travelers or if you just want to Zoom-In from home every now and again.
  • 4-Packs are extremely popular: $68.00. With a four pack you can truly experience the variety of Qigong exercises that are practiced in our classes before you commit to the balance of classes. At any time you can move to the pro-rated option. However 4 packs will only be made available if space allows and after December 15th, 2025. 
  • Drop-Ins: $20.00. Normally, you can drop-in anytime. These classes, though, fill up very quick with 4-packers and fully registered students. Depending on registration one-time drop-ins may be restricted. All the classes are easy-to-follow and no prior knowledge or experience is needed. After you try it once, and you decide you’d love an opportunity to continue, we can give you a pro-rated price or you can choose to purchase a 4-Pack.
  • If you are dropping in, In-Person, Only cash or e-transfer will be accepted. Also please ensure that you arrive in the gym at least 20 minutes in advance for your first class.
  • For those wanting to drop-in Live-On-Zoom please ensure you complete the Zoom registration in order to receive your login information in confirmation email.

In this unique Health Qigong class we explore a diverse mix of Qigong forms—from slow and meditative to invigorating and rhythmical. You’ll strengthen your body, support your immune system, and deepen your breath through movement patterns that align with the lungs, the season of metal, and the art of release.

Some of our forms focus on healing and inner stillness; others invite you to play with rhythm, coordination, and flow. Each session is guided, adaptable, and layered—allowing you to move with ease at your own pace, while still being inspired to grow.

Each class is unique and layered, with space for both new and returning students to flourish. We explore a range of traditional Health Qigong practices—some revitalizing, some calming, all deeply healing. The variety keeps things fresh, and you’ll often leave feeling more alive, more grounded, and more connected than when you arrived.

Autumn in Chinese medicine is the season of the Lungs and Large Intestine—organs tied to breath, immunity, and letting go and we practiced Autumn Qigong during our September to December session. During the Winter months we will practice Kidney Qigong that is related to Water Element. We’ll move seemlessly into Spring where we’ll practice Qigong geared towards the Element of Wood and Liver Qigong. Regardless of the Season we will continue to practice Qigong forms that are well-loved, well-rounded for all the Seasons and all the 12 meridians of the body.

This class attracts participants from all walks of life and across generations—proof that Qigong truly is for everyone. Come for the healing; return for the laughter, the shared breath, and the deep sense of renewal.

Our Saturday group is beautifully diverse, with participants ranging in age from mid-20s to over 90. 

Everyone moves at their own pace. Some come for the enjoyment of the healthy movements, healing sounds and friendship. Others join in to build strength and stretch-ability; to reduce pain in the body or spirit; while others seek Qigong’s internal support while going through life’s challenges, including cancer recovery, chronic illness, or emotional stress. Mostly, people join in because it just feels good, the joy of the moves and the shared Qi.

No experience necessary—just bring your breath, your curiosity, and your willingness to explore.

Practicing Qigong builds and circulates energy (Qi or Chi) through the body. Qigong is an excellent addition to any walking, cardio or stretching regime that is already in place. No need to memorize any of the movements… unless you want to. Just follow along, breathe deeply and enjoy.

    Refund Policies – Video Policies – In-Person Covid Policies – On-Zoom Policies – Waiver 2022

    REFUND POLICIES
    1) Requests must be submitted in writing by email and is effective the date of the email.
    2) Refunds will not be given after the 3rd class unless it is for medical reasons.
    3) If you must stop class because you have contracted Covid 19 please contact us immediately.
    4) Refunds provided will be calculated in the following manner – Classes already taken will be converted to a Drop-In Rate of $15.00/class, plus an added administration fee of $10.00. The balance will be refunded and sent to you by Interac or by mail.
    5) Please note that if locations close due to Covid restrictions then all classes will continue on Zoom.
    6) Some In-Person locations have special event days where all classes will either be On-Zoom or In-Person at an alternate location. No credit for class missed will be provided.

    VIDEO POLICIES
    Whether On-Zoom or In-Person the registered student understands that the North Shore Tai Chi Spirit & Chinese Health Qigong organization has a strict no-video-of-the-Instructor or the Assistants without express written consent. Additionally, all students agree that any videos sent to them by the Instructor are for “your eyes only” and should never be shared with any other person or posted, in full or in part, on the Internet.

    IN-PERSON COVID POLICIES (as of April 2022)
    North Shore Tai-Chi Spirit & Chinese Health Qigong wants to create a safe place for indoor tai chi and qigong group practice. Many of our classes are both In-Person and On-Zoom at the same time.

    In accordance with the Provincial Health Authority wearing a mask will be a personal choice at this time. However, we will continue to require that all In-Person students practice social distancing.

    If a shut-down to all In-Person classes is mandated by the Provincial Health Authority, then all classes will continue on Zoom. No credit will be given to students unless they do not have adequate access to the Internet.

    ON-ZOOM POLICIES

    IN-PERSON OPTIONS FOR ZOOM
    Anyone signing up for In-Person classes will always have the option to be on Zoom where that option is available at that location. Some classes do not have the Zoom option.

    Any In-Person registration means that you are guaranteed a spot in the class. When and if the need arises: if you are not feeling well , if you are out-of-town, or if you are running late; On-Zoom is an option for you.

    WAIVER FOR ALL STUDENTS

    In registering for this class our Instructor assumes you have talked to your doctor before starting this health and fitness regime. If you have any medical conditions or physical concerns please participate at your own pace and also let your Instructor know by emailing taichispirit@shaw.ca.

    Agreement of Release and Waiver of Liability:
    I (referring to the student, the undersigned) voluntarily supply my contact information so that representatives of the North Shore Tai-Chi Spirit (& Chinese Health Qigong) can contact me regarding class changes, cancellations, course updates, and tuition reminders, and special event updates. Participation in tai chi & qigong classes involves exercise. Exercise can result in accidents or injuries. I assume the risk connected with participation in tai chi & qigong classes and represent that I am insufficiently good health and condition and do not suffer from any physical or mental impairment which would put me or anyone at risk of injury while receiving tai chi & qigong instruction from representatives of the North Shore Tai-Chi Spirit. I understand that North Shore Tai-Chi Spirit is a management company only. All Instructors represent themselves. I specifically agree that the North Shore Tai-Chi Spirit, the general manager, volunteers, and instructor(s) of any In-Person or Zoom classes I am participating in, and/or his associates, shall not be held liable for any claim, demand, cause of action of any kind, resulting from or related to my use of the facilities or instruction.

    I have read the above release and waiver of liability, as well as the refund policies, On-Zoom policies, In-Person policies, Covid policies, and fully understand their contents. I voluntarily agree to the terms and conditions stated above. I verify that all answers in my Registration are true.
