Part 1 of the 24 form taijiquan (Tai Chi) will be taught In-Person during this morning class at Highlands United Church and on Zoom. This class will continue in the April-June/July session.
24 Form is one of the most popular beginner Yang-style forms in the World of Taijiquan today. During this class we will review the basics of each of the 24 movements. Once learned the form can take anywhere from 4 minutes to 20 minutes to perform, depending on your speed. By the end of this class you will be able to join the millions of people who enjoy this lovely form.
The easiest forms to learn, and the best for Newbies, are the short forms which are usually comprised of 14 – 24 movements in length.
Level 2 Beginners and Intermediates benefit greatly by revisiting a form they once learned and repeating the learning process. Every class you will learn something new about your mind-body coordination, focus, and flow.
Those who have already learned the 24 Form will gain self-awareness by reviewing the movements in more detail. You will learn how to increase our Qi flow with each movement and can focus on intentions such as breathing, body posture, and depth of form. Those experienced in the 24 form students will be given weekly intentions to practice.

More Information About 24 form Part 1
Learning the 24 Form will introduce you to “what is tai chi” in the best possible way.
Learning 24 Form is an excellent alternative or addition to jogging or aerobics and for those with limited time or health for exercise.
Harvard Health Publishing reported in 2021 that in a meta-analysis of 20 studies on tai chi and cognition, tai chi appears to improve executive function: the ability to multitask, manage time, and make decisions in people without any cognitive decline. In those with mild cognitive impairment, tai chi has been shown to slow the progression to dementia more than other types of exercise and improved their cognitive function
Neuroscientists have found that the two sides of the brain work together to perform a wide variety of tasks and the two sides communicate through the corpus callosum. Later research has shown that the brain is not nearly as neatly divided as this. The brain actually works best when both sides of the brain are engaged at the same time. That is what tai chi can do for you. Young or older, your brain will work better with this unique tai chi training.
We need both sides of our brain working together to create strong neuropathways, improving focus and recall. Are you ready for a fun challenge? Join us and feel the difference it will make in your life.
